 What is Wagyu?

Wagyu a specific breed of cattle and is well-known for it's exceptional flavor and tenderness. Wagyu's flavor comes from its fat marbling which is a mono-unsaturated fat, differing from other beef breeds. It's marbled texture and healthy fat content make Wagyu beef more tender and flavorful than any other type of beef!


The Villacaro Difference

Our beef is Pureblood Wagyu, which means it is 100% Wagyu. beef. Did you know that when you buy a product labeled “Wagyu Beef”, it can contain as little as 46.9% Wagyu, with the remaining percentage being genetics from other breeds of cattle (ex: Angus)? This is a sneaky marketing tactic that may fool you into paying a premium for Wagyu beef that isn’t the real thing!

Breed

Wagyu is a specific breed of cattle, originating from Japan. Our beef is 100% Pureblood Wagyu.

Marbling

Marbling is the distribution of intra-muscular fat in beef. This is different that the saturated fat you see on the outer part of steaks. This marbling is a mono-unsaturated fat (MUFA), similar to wild salmon and olive oil! Research shows that MUFAs have an anti-inflammatory impact on the body.
